We didn't get enough attendees at tonight's NCC-Mac meeting whose computers met the minimum System requirements for our door prize. If you or someone you know would like a FREE copy of ESET Cybersecurity for Mac, send me an email message at with "Left Over DOOR PRIZE" in the Subject line. This is a first-come-first-served offer, and quantities are very, very limited.

Where WAS Everyone‽

That's what I get for scheduling the NCC-Mac meeting to conflict with Macworld Expo. I guess I figured people would attend whichever event was closer to home. Is my face red!

The next NCC-Mac meeting is confirmed for Thursday, February 24, 6:00 PM, Langlois Library. If we get the same low attendance we got today, this next meeting may be our last meeting.

Some meeting announcement emails bounced

As you already know, we send out a meeting reminder email the weekend before our monthly NCC-Mac meeting. This month several of those email messages bounced. Some of you who had Verizon email addresses have switched to Frontier email or some other email provider. If you see this blog post and you didn't get an emailed meeting announcement, and you still wish to get meeting announcements, contact us so we can fix our mailing list.

The NCC-Mac meeting is TONIGHT, January 27, 6:00 PM, Langlois Library. DOOR PRIZES!

NCC-Mac January Meeting Reminder

The next meeting of the North Curry County Macintosh Users is THURSDAY January 27, 6:00 PM at the Langlois Library.

Thus month's topic is "Cruft and the removal thereof."

The Library's high-speed Wi-Fi is up and running well, so if there's a site you wish to share with the group, go for it!

This month we have a DOOR PRIZE! I have three shrink-wrapped copies of a software package that retails for $39.99. (This software requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher and an Intel processor.)

Be there, or you know what!

Broadband Comes to Langlois

Well, they haven't made it up our road yet, but at least the Langlois Library has got their broadband Wi-Fi up and running. I gave it some exercise Thursday evening and it's quite fast, compared to other Wi-Fi hotspots I've tried out near here. There is still one killer bug that still has to be worked out. Their cordless phone's frequency looks to be too close to that of their wireless router, so anytime someone uses the phone, the wireless network goes bye-bye. I'm guessing that when both the phone's and router's "channels" are set as far apart as possible, the problem will go away.

That will not be a problem at the next NCC-Mac meeting (January 27, 6:00 PM). We just won't answer the phone. If you have something online to share with the group, we can, for the first time in a long while, reach outside the room.
