The iWork apps are also enhanced to take advantage of the Retina display on new Mac hardware so presentations, documents, and spreadsheets appear sharper and more vibrant.

Does my Mac meet the Hardware requirements for Mountain Lion?
Running Snow Leopard or higher, download and run MachineProfile from the Mac App Store.
Will my applications run under Mountain Lion?
system_profiler SPApplicationsDataType >~/Desktop/MyFileTypes.txt
Enter this command in a Terminal window. open MyFileTypes.txt in TextEdit. Search for instances of "PowerPC". These applications will not run under Mountain Lion. Discard or replace them.
Also, AppleWorks and a few other applications not play well under Mountain Lion.
Run Software Update. Update old applications and drivers.
Create a "Things from my Desktop" folder on your Desktop. Drag any loose files and folders from the 
Desktop into it.
Run Time Machine and/or other backup software.
Download Mountain Lion from the App Store. If Install OS X Mountain Lion.app auto-starts, quit it.
Copy the Mountain Lion installer app to another drive for safe keeping.
NOTE: Recent Mac purchasers are entitled to a free upgrade to Mountain Lion. www.apple.com—uptodate
Run Time Machine and/or other backup software again. Unmount and switch off backup drive.
Launch Install OS X Mountain Lion.app. Follow Instructions. Wait.
You may need to install Java. OS X Mountain Lion does not provide a Java runtime by default.
You may want to activate iCloud.
Run Software Update.
If after a while everything looks OK, switch Time Machine back on.

NCC-Mac July 2012 Meeting Reminder

The next meeting of the North Curry County Macintosh users is Thursday, July 26, 4:30 PM at the Langlois Library.

There's a very good chance OS X Mountain Lion will be released this week, so I have modified and expanded last year's presentation: "I wish I'd known that before I upgraded to Mountain Lion."
